Brian Patrick Murphy

Brian was raised just north of New York City in an Irish-Italian household. Growing up he played football, lacrosse and wrestled while performing in high school musicals. After being recruited as a college athlete he chose the path less traveled and committed to his passion, earning a degree in Acting and Theatre at Fordham University Lincoln Center.

On stage he has been seen opposite John Finn, in BREAK, playing an NYPD cop picking up the pieces after 9/11, directed by Tracy Middendorf. Favorite Theatre credits: Burn This (Pale), Italian American Reconciliation (Huey), Savage in Limbo (Tony), The Summer Winds (Lounge Singer). Several of which he helped to produce.

Recently, the focus has shifted to films playing supporting roles in: Back in the Day-starring Danny Glover and Michael Madsen, A Good Marriage-starring Anthony Lapaglia and Joan Allen, Julia written and directed by Matthew A. Brown, Hank and Asha (Audience Choice Slamdance), Boyz of Summer (Best Feature Nom. Soho Int. Film Fest.) and The Talk Man (Winner Best Director Harlem Int. Film Fest.) that he produced as well. In January 2014 he will be starring on stage in The Clearing by Jake Jeppson directed by Drama Desk Award Winner Josh Hecht. He continues to study with Larry Moss during his week long intensives in New York, in addition to studying Shakespeare with Joseph Siravo and a weekly scene study class with Karl Bury. He is a founding member of the Neboya Collective, a group of artists that produce film and theatre. He is also a former Golden Gloves boxer and fought underground in Friday Night Throwdown under the nickname “The Bed-Stuy Brawler”.
