Samantha’s Friends, a non-profit organization formed 28 years ago by mother and daughter Alice and Sammy Bozza, with a main focus on service canines helping individuals challenged by disabilities as well as canine shelters for the military deployed, senior citizens and other needs of individuals unable to care for their animals. Samantha’s Friends has donated over $150,000 to organizations through their fundraisers held in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, that take place twice a year. Their star-studded May event included 1883’s Eric Nelsen, General Hospital’s Finola Huges, Days of Our Lives actors Carson Boatman, Mike Manning, Stacy Haiduk, Eric Martsolf and Kyle Lowder and The Bay’s Jordi Vilasuso, Kristos Andrews and Gregori Martin, who created The Bay and serves as executive producer. Valor Service Dogs was one of the charities that the event benefitted. Executive Director Carol Lunsford and her husband, Justin Lansford SSG, US Army (Ret), NREMT are interviewed talking about the charity.
